Ask a Mentor
Welcome to Freedom Resource Center's Peer Mentor Program. This program exists around the idea that only people with disabilities recognize what it is like to be a person with a disability. It is based on the belief that only a person who has faced discrimination, that has struggled to live independently, those who have been given the dignity of risk and the opportunity to fail is the best person to empower others with disabilities to do so. This is why all of the mentors that will be answering your questions are people with disabilities volunteering their time to share their knowledge, skills, and experiences with you. The Peer Mentor program, in its simplest form, is an opportunity for people with disabilities to empower others with disabilities to live as independently as possible. It is about people utilizing personal knowledge and experiences to address the questions of others.
Freedom Resource Center is committed to keeping all information confidential, including your e-mail address, which will not be disclosed to anyone including the mentor without your consent. Your questions will be filtered through the Peer Mentoring Specialist and they will decide which mentors are most appropriate to answer you question(s). All replies will be answered by at least one trained mentor living independently in the community. Please feel free to take advantage of this opportunity and ask as many questions as you would like as well as follow up questions to any answers you will be recieving. Please allow for a maximum of seven daysfor your reply.
